Quilt top ready, from ÖQ BOM 2011

At last I have finished this top.
We started with the BOM in 2011, and I had all the intention in the world to make 1 block per month.....
But you know, somthing else came in the way....
I changed the orignial by not using all the blocks, and made more of some of the others.
So my quilt will look totaly different.

I used fabrics from http://www.lerouvray.com/fabrics/romance.html
and 3 solids and a beige/white as a background.

And now starts the really diffucult part, the quilting section.

Spring-time, det er vår på Limhamn

Hei.
For 2 dager siden var jeg ute og gikk en tur i solen. Det var riktig varmt og skjönt.
Förste vårdagen i år....  :-)

And at last, I'm making small Wonky Stars for use in the borders for my ÖQ-Technical BOM.(from 2011)
Block Size 4½ inch....
I used scraps from cutting off corners from Flying Geese for the starpoints.....
It's NOT too late? Anyway, I started on this UFO last week, after finishing my TAW.

Trip around the World, finished :-)

At last, finished.
Today I could take pictures outside, the sun was shining.
And this is what I managed;

It's cold and clear, and in the background you can see the bridge to Denmark.

A beautiful day.

 

 

The size of the finished quilt is 172x172 cm.

I used cotton batting 80/20

The backside, and my label in the left corner.

In the end I had some more leftover blocks, and they became tablematts, or mugrugs. Depending on the size of the mug or the plate... hihi
I did some testing with free motion quilting for the first time.
And I can tell you I need some heavy training to be up and going on this technic. I signed up for a class on Craftsy, and hope to get the time to look into it during the spring/summer.

My first quilt, all hand made.

"Trip around" and scraps...

I påvente av mot nok til å starte quiltning av min "Trip around"  sydde jeg en liten duk av scrapsen.
Hele tiden med et sideblikk på gjestesengen hvor den store utfordringen lå og "stakk i öynene"...
Nå er duken ferdig, så da var det bare å sette i gang.
Duken er ca. 77x77 cm, dvs. ca. 30 x 30 inch
Quilten blir ca 170x170 cm.  dvs. ca 67x67inch.
Det er verst för man setter nålen i midten förste gangen. Etter det har angsten sluppet litt, og det er bare å fortsette....og håpe på det beste.

When gathering enough currage to start quilting this "Trip Around" I made a table topper with some of the scraps.

All the time with one eye on this top, laying close to the sewing machine,  waiting....

In the end, when the smaller top was finished, I just had to start right away.

As soon as the quilt was placed, and the first stitches made, the worst anguish vanished....

Now it's just to continue..... and hope for the best.

Trip Around the World :-)

Nå har jeg sydd ferdig toppen, og seint i går kveld fikk jeg lagt den også... Jippi!
Mangler bare noen nåler för den er klart til quiltning.....
Bilder med blits i dagslys, men ikke så veldig bra. Det siste er seint på kvelden, og det er mörkt, men dere ser at jeg er nesten ferdig til start.... :-)

The quilt top is finished, and on the last picture you can see that I'm soon ready to start quilting.

Working on my Trip around the World

First of all I will thank all of you that visited my blog during the  Dare to Dresend hop.
I got lots of comments and positve feedback. :-)
Great fun!!

This week I will be sewing on my Trip Around the World....
At the moment it's the backing that's in focus.

I used the technique with scraps and paper strips of 2½ inch.  as I showed on my blog the 18th. of January.

As I will use black fabric for the backing, this is going to be in the middle.....

Mange la igjen trivelige kommentarer, og det setter jeg Stor pris på. :-)

Denne uken jobber jeg vidre med min Trip....
Toppen er snart klar, og nå holder jeg på med baksiden. Her har jeg sydd noen blokk med "kassakvitto" tekniken. Jeg har brukt scraps fra klippingen av toppen. De minste bitene er nok bare 2 cm brede. Kravet til å bruke dem er at de er 2½ inch på den ene kanten, og at det syns en del av biten på rettsiden.... :-)  Ellers blander jeg hei vilt i scrapshaugen.
Baksiden blir i svart ensfarget, så dette vil live godt opp på midten ....
